While these vehicles were generally well-received for their fuel efficiency, the transmission issues have become a common topic of discussion among owners. The transmission system in these Cruzes plays a crucial role in transferring power from the engine to the wheels, allowing the car to change speeds. When this system malfunctions, it can lead to various noticeable symptoms. Drivers might experience delayed shifts, jerky or harsh shifts, unusual noises coming from the transmission area, or even a complete failure of the transmission to engage gears properly.

Customer Concerns:

Customer states when he was driving at 50 and up, it started to jolt and try to accelerate. Customer states there is no check engine light is on. Customer states he is unsure of how long the engine issue has been there . he is not the daily driver. Customer states he would like to have the issues looked at.  Customer states he is does not think there has been any major work done. customer notes oil changes are pretty up to date.  Customer would like to focus on engine issues first.

Technician Notes:

“test drove vehicle several miles to duplicate customer concern of julting while driving .. after inspecting data found that vehicle harsh bearing noise with jolting is a combination of internal failure of the transmission .. pulled a fluid sample and found an excessive amount of metal ... rec replace trans assy and repair vehicle engine oil leaks with tune up and new coils”

“Replaced trans Assy due to internal failure and pump .. After replacement filled vehicle trans to vehicle spec. After performing several relearn and resetting adaptive values test drove for 50 plus miles to perform vehicle QC and confirm vehicle has no shifting issues .. After final drive found vehicle has wheel bearing noise and will need addressed.”

The underlying causes of these issues can be complex and may involve various components within the transmission system. Some potential factors may include issues with the transmission fluid, problems with the control module, or mechanical wear and tear on internal parts. Given the commonality of these problems across these models, it's important for owners of a
2011-2016 Chevy Cruze to be aware of the potential transmission issues. If they notice any of the symptoms mentioned above, it's recommended to have their vehicle inspected by a qualified mechanic near me who can diagnose and address the problem appropriately. Regular scheduled maintenance, early detection and repair can often help prevent more severe damage and ensure the reliable operation of their vehicle.  Please see the article at https://www.samarins.com/reviews/cruze.html for more info.
